Atlantic Ocean Beaches from New Jersey to North Carolina: Today - The northern beaches will be sunny with highs in the 70s; water temperatures will be in the 60s; southern beaches will be sunny with highs in the 80s; water temperatures will range from the upper 60s to the low 70s. Monday - Sunny, high in the upper 70s.

Extended Area Outlook for Tuesday through Thursday: There will be a chance of showers Tuesday with highs in the 80s. Highs will range from the mid 70s to the mid 80s, and lows from the mid 60s for the remainder of the period. Normal Washington temperatures for the period will be a high of 84 and a low of 64.

The Nation Yesterday: Snow in the Wyoming mountains, which was a pleasure for winter ski buffs, is now melting with the warm temperatures and is likely to cause minor flooding during the next few days. Showers and an occasional thundershowers developed over the upper Great Lakes and the central Missouri Valley. Showers continued from northern California through western Oregon as well as in northern Idaho and western Montana.

The Council of Governments' Air Quality Index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington area during the 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. period was 100 for the polluntant, photochemcial oxidents. Index values between 100 and 250 indicate very unhealthy air quality. When the indes exceeds 100 the air is considered very unhealthy and individuals with lung, heart and eye ailments are urged to restrict their activity.
