The National Weather Forecast for today: Rain and some thundershowers will continue through New England. Scattered thundershowers will reach from the remainder of the Atlantic Coast through the lower Great Lakes, the Ohio Valley southwest across much of the mid Mississippi Valley to the Gulf Coast, Texas, new Mexico and the eastern Gulf Coast states. A few thunderstorms will be over Colorado with rain or drizzle in eastern Wyoming. Sunshine will overall elsewhere. The Council of Governments' Air Quality Index for yesterday showed a high reading in the Washington area during the 2 and 3 p.m. period was 15 for the pollutant, carbon monoxide.
