The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing authority is accepting applications for a program that will financially assist 14 low-and moderate-income Falls Church City families to pay their rent.
In order to be eligible for the rental assistance, provided under the Section 8 Existing Housing Assistance Payments Program and administered by the City of Falls Church, applicants must meet the following minimum income limits: The gross annual income ceiling for a two-member household is $14,400; three-member, $16,200; four-member, $18,000; five-member, $19,100, and six-member, $20,250.
Families requiring two and three bedroom units are now eligible for consideration. Any townhouse, garden apartment or single family home in Falls Church City is eligible under this program as long as it meets rent and quality standards and has landlord approval. Participating families will pay about 25 percent of their income for rent and the Redevelopment and Housing Authority will pay the rest.
Families may choose to seek new housing or to remain in their present home and receive rental assistance. Preference will be given to families who live or work in Falls Church City.
To apply, visit the Falls Church Community Center, 223 Little Falls St., Room B-2, Calls Church, this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
