Atlantic Ocean Beaches from New Jersey to North Carolina: Today and Wednesday - Sunny and pleasant, high both days in the mid to upper 70s. Water temperatures range from the low 70s in the north to near 80 in the south.

West Virginia: Today and Wednesday - Sunny and warm with patchy morning fog both days, highs from the upper 70s to mid 80s, low in the 50s to low 60s.

The National Weather Forecast for today - scattered showers and thunderstorms will extend across the Gulf Coast region. They will be widely scattered over Texas, the Great Lakes region, the Rockies and most of the Intermountain Region. Scattered showers are likely be over the Pacific Northwest. Elsewhere mainly sunny skies will be seen. Hot temperatures will continue from the south and central Great Plains into Missouri and Minnesota. Cool or mild temperatures will cover most portions of California and the Pacific Northwest across the Intermountain Region and the Rockies. Seasonably warm temperatures will dominate in the remainder of the country.

The Council of Government's Air Quality Index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington area during the 3 p.m. period was 44 for the pollutant, photochemical oxidants.
