Billy D. Kraxberger, 44, a retired lieutenant colonel in the Marine Corps, died of cancer Friday at the Bethesda Naval Hospital.
Col. Kraxberger, who was born in Stover, Mo., had been a resident of the Woodbridge, Va., for the past eight years. He entered the Marine Corps from the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps at the University of Missouri, where he graduated in 1955 with a bachelor's degree in education. He retired in 1975.
His assignments in the service included duty in Vietnam and the Phillippines. He earned a master's degree in the technology of management from American University in 1971.
Col. Kraxberger had been active in volunteer work at the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Woodbridge since his retirement from the Marine Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ann, of the home in Woodbridge; two daughters, Cheryl, a student at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, and Lynda, of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Kraxberger, of Stover, Mo., and two sisters, Elizabeth Clark, of Bogue, Kan., and Mary Lou Gillilan, of Jefferson City, Mo.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the St. Paul United Methodist Church, Woodbridge, Va.
