Two persons died of gunshots and two others wounded early yesterday in the Washington area, according to District of Columbia police and U.S. Park police.
Malachi Hayes, 34, of 4019 Alton St., District Heights, was found suffering from a gunshot wound in the 2600 block of Douglas Place SE at 12:40 a.m. according to D.C. police. Hayes was taken to Greater Southeast Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Two juveniles were arrested at 11:30 a.m. yesterday and charged with homicide in connection with Hayes' death, according to police. The younths allegedly shot Hayes during a robbery attempt, police said.
In a second fatal shooting, Moses Bradley, 67, was shot in the head at his home at 1140 North Capitol St. NW, according to police. A homicide detective said Bradley's death has been ruled a suicide.
U.S. Park Police reported two incidents.
One occurred in Meredian Hill Park during a robbery attempt, in which the victim was shot but not critically injured. Further details were not available.
In another, park police reported a man told them he was shot and wounded as he drove his car on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Police are investigating the report.
