Extended Area Forecast for Saturday through Monday - Sunny with temperatures averaging in the 70s, lows in the 50s. Normal Washington temperatures are a high of 78 and a low of 58.

Lower Potomac and Chesapeake Bay - Fair with visibility of 5 miles or more. Winds will be from the southwest at 10 to 15 knots. Waves will average near 1 foot.

West Virginia: Today - Partly cloudy with scattered thundershowers developing during the late afternoon, high in the 80s to near 90, lows from the 50s to the upper 90, lows from the 50s to the upper highs from the 70s to low 80s.

The National Weather Forecast for today - Mild temperatures with rain showers and thunderstorms will extend from central and eastern Texas through the southern half of the Mississippi Valley, the Ohio Valley region into New England and over most of the Great Lakes region. There will be a few scattered thundershowers in the south Altantic Coast states with showers in the Pacific Northwest. The rest of the nation will be fair to partly cloudy. It will be unseasonably hot over the mid Atlantic Coast region and warm over the south Atlantic and Gulf Coast region. The remainder of the nation will be cool.

The Council of Government's Air Quality Index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington area during the 3 p.m. period was 37 for the pollutant, photochemical oxidants. Index values between 25 and 49 indicate fair air quality. When the index exceeds 100 the air is considered very unhealthy and individuals with lung, heart and eye ailments are urged to restrict their activity. The forecast for today indicates that the air quality will remain about the same.

The National Weather Service forecast the Potomac River stage at Little Falls should remain near 3.0 feet today.
