"What do you think of Metro's Saturday service?" Staff writer Carol Krucoff and photographer Michael Ford Parks went to Metro Center Saturday to ask subway riders their views. Nijah Rambe, 23, Philadelphia, Pa: "It looks like something out of "Star Wars." This is my first time riding it. I'm from Philadelphia, and our subway is nothing like this. This is more modern, and it looks more organized. But the one in Philly is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day." Elizabeth Pemberton, 38, Devonshire Place and Connecticut Avenue NW: "I think it's terrific. I work weekends so it's a great boon for me, and I think it will do wonders for downtown D.C. There were crowds of families getting on at the Smithsonian stop." David Johnson, 19, of 20th and Kearney streets NE: "It looks like it's doing pretty good to me. I would have taken the bus to get downtown today, but I like the subway better. It's faster, and you don't have to wait as long." Lawrence Harmon, 40, Arlington: "I think it's much too late. "They should have had Saturday service during the summer for all the tourists." Larnie Hayes, 34, of 18th Street and Columbia Road NW: "I'm glad they have it on Saturday, and I think they should have it on Sunday, too. People are out on Sunday, especially when there are football games." James E. Litman, Hillcrest Heights, Md: "I've been riding it to work since day one, and I just came down today to take a look around and see if people rode it. From the number of people who seem to be taking it, I'd say the Saturday service seems to be a success." Patricia Hanahau, 36, Crystal City: "I think it's terrific because I don't have to find a parking space. I'm looking forward to taking the subway to Redskins games."
