The National Weather Forecast for today - Rainshowers will be scattered from the upper Great Lakes region across southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois into Iowa. Widely scattered rainshowers and thundershowers will also occur across Colorado. Soles will be sunny along the north and central Pacific Coast, across the northern two thirds of the Plateau into the northern Plains and the upper Mississippi Valley and from the southern Plains across the lower Mississippi Valley and the Gulf Coast region into Kentucky, the upper Ohio Valley and the Atlantic Coast.Cool temperature will continue from the northern two thirds of the Plains states across the Mississippi Valley to the Atlantic Coast. The northern half of the Pacific Coast will be warm with seasonably mild temperatures over the remainder of the nation.

The Council of Government's Air Quality Index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington area during the 3 p.m. period was 13 for the pollutant, photochemical oxidants.
