Lower Potomac and Cheaspeake Bay - Fair with visibility of 5 miles or more. Winds will be variable at 5 to 10 knots. Waves will average 1 to 2 feet.

West Virginia: Today - Mostly sunny, breezy and warm, highs in the 60s with some 70 degree readings in the south, lows in the 40s Thursday - Cloudy with showers likely, high in the 60s.

The National Weather Forecast for today - A cold front will bring Central Plains, the middle and upper Mississippi Valley and the upper Great Lakes region. The mostly sunny, Canadian air will keep temperatures in the 40s in the Dakotas and Montana. Readings in the 50s will be found as for south as the mountains of Arizona and New Mexico. The remainder of the country will have mild weather.

The Council of Government's Air Quality Index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington area during the 3 p.m. period was 25 for the pollutant, photo-chemical oxidants. Index values between 25 and 49 include fair air quality. When the index exceeds 100 the air is considered very unhealty and eye ailments are urged to restrict their activity. The forecast for today indicates that the air quality will remain about the same.

The National Weather Service forecasts the Potomac River stage at Little Falls should remain near 2.9 feet today.
