Maryland and Virginia: Today - Partly cloudy with a chance of a little rain at times in the southeast. The highs will be in the 60s to low 70s and low in the 40s. Saturday - Partly cloudy, high in 70s.

Lower Potomac and Chesapeake Bay: Today - Fair, visibility more than five miles. Winds will be northwesterly at 15 knots. Waves in unprotected waters will be 2 feet.

Extended Area Outlook for Sunday through Tuesday: It will be sunny and cool Sunday with highs around 60 and lows in the mid 30s to mid 40s. It should be fair and warmer for the rest of the period. By Tuesday the highs should be nearly 70 and the lows in the 40s. Normal Washington temperatures for the period will be a high of 64 and a low of 45.

West Virginia: Today - Mostly cloudy, high in 50s except mid 60s in the eastern panhandle. The lows will be in the mid 30s to low 40s. Saturday - Mostly sunny, high in mid 50s to around 60.

The Nation Yesterday: Rainshowers and scattered thunderstorms continued into the from the Texas coastal plains and lower Mississippi Valley across the Ohio Valley, the lower Great Lakes, New England and northern Atlantic Coast. Showers were also scattered from Florida across the southern Atlantic coastal states as well as from southern New Mexico into southwest Texas. Temperatures from much of the Mississippi Valley, the Rockies and the Pacific Coast remained cool. Hanford, Wash. set a record low temperature for this date with 21 degrees this morning. The former record was of 22 degrees was set in 1919. Winnemucca, Nev. also set a low temperature record for this date with 11 degrees. The former record was 13 degrees, set in 1939. Colder temperatures will continue into the lower Ohio Valley, frost or freeze warnings have been posted over northern and central Illinois tonight.

The National Weather Forecast for today - Rainshowers and occassional thundershowers will be scattered through the eastern gulf states and over the Atlantic coastal states from Florida through Virginia and Delaware. Temperatures will mild over the southern Atlantic Coast through Florida as well as from Oregon through the California coast. Elsewhere temperatures over the nation will be unseasonably cool or cold.
