Lower Potomac and Chesapeake Bay: Today - Partly cloudy, visibility more than five miles. Winds will be northeasterly at 18 knots. Waves in unprotected waters will be 2 feet.

Extended Area Outlook for Tuesday through Thursday: Considerable cloudiness with a chance of rain at times then clearing on Thursday. The highs will average from the 60s to low 70s, lows 40 to low 50s. Normal Washington temperatures for the period will be a high of 64 and a low of 44.

The Nation Yesterday: Patches of fog remained scattered along the Pacific Coast, while light rain continued over portions of northwestern Washington. Also, clouds and rainshowers with an occasional thunderstorm extended from the Gulf coast through the southern half of the Atlantic Coast.

The National Weather Forecast for today - seasonal showers will be scattered across Florida. Rainshowers will be scattered from western Montana across Washington, but skies elsewhere over the nation will be generally sunny. Temperatures will be mild from the central Plains into the southern half of the Pleateau region, also along the Gulf Coast and the southern Atlantic Coast. Temperatures over the remainder of the nation will be cool.

The Council of Government's Air Quality Index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington area during the 10 a.m. period was 28 for the pollutant. Carbon Monoxide Index values between 25 and 49 indicate fair air quality. When the index exceeds 100 the air is considered very unhealthy and individuals with lung, heart and eye ailments are urged to restrict their activity. The forecast for today indicates that the air quality will remain the same.

The National Weather Services forecasts the Potomac River stage at Little Falls should remain at 2.9 feet today.
