Extended Area Forecast for Saturday through Monday - Fair. Highs will average in the 60s, low in the 40s. Normal Washington temperatures are a high of 62 and a low of 42.

West Virginia: Today and Friday - Sunny but hazy, highs from the upper 50s to upper 60s, lows from the mid 30s to mid 40s.

Lower Potomac and Chesapeake Bay - Fair with visibility to 5 miles of more except 1 to 3 miles in morning haze. Winds will be light and variable. Waves will average 1 foot or less.

The National Weather Forecast for today - rainshowers, with snow over the higher mountains, will be scattered across Nevada into the Sierra Nevada Mountains, northern Arizona and western New Mexico. Elsewhere, except for partly cloudy skies over the Rockies, most of the Intermountain Region, Texas and the lower Mississippi Valley sunny skies will prevail. Except for Florida it will be somewhat cooler over the south and mid Atlantic Coast states and continue to be cool from California across the southern Rockies. The remainder of the country will have mild temperatures.

The Council of Government's Air Quality index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington area during the 3 p.m. period was 35 for the pollutant, photochemical oxidants index values between 25 and 49 indicate fair air quality. When the index exceeds 100 the air is considered very unhealthy and individuals with lung, hear and eye ailments are urged to restrict their activity. The forecast for today indicates that the air quality will improve.

The National Weather Service forecasts the Potomac River stage at Little Falls sould remain near 2.9 feet today.
