Bishop C. Kilmer Myers, 62, who succeeded the late James Pike as bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of California, has announced his intention to resign. Myers told a diocesan convention that he would retire, probbably next year, after his successor has been choser, and go to a religious center in the northern part of the state and spend some time with American Indians there.
Archimandrite Boris T. Geeza has been elected the new ruling bishop of Chicago and the Midwest by the Orthodox Church in America Synod of Bishops. Archimandrite Geera, Cormerly bishop-elect of Manhattan, Creplaces Archbishop John who retired Sept. 1.
Jack Turner, pastor of the Mount Vernon Baptist Chruch in Arlington, was elected president of the 40,000 member Mount Vernon Baptist Association.The association includes 59 churches in the area cooperating with the Southern Baptist Convention.
The Rev. Carroll E. Kann has been installed as area conference minister of the Potomac Association, one of the five associations of the Central Atlantic Conference of the United Church of Christ. Kann has served in the past as pastoral adviser of the United Congregation House Church of Oxon Hill and as director of community ministry for Prince George's County.
Erna J. Belton, a member of the Florida Avenue Baptist Church, was elected president of Church Women United in Greater Washington at their annual assembly held recently at the Vermont Avenue Baptist Church. Church Women United is a national ecumenical movement with a membership here of 7,000 women.
