Son of the late Charlotte and John Janifer, born Feb. 6, 1891; in Hanlemoy, Md. He received his education in Charles County Schools. At the age 19, he was ordained Deacon in Marcus Hook, Pa., he married the late Sally Durham. Seven years later, Deacon 372nd Division World War 1 for two years, received an Honorable Discharge in 1925. Mr. Janifer returned to build his home in Ironsides, formerly named "Cottage Hill." He was employed at the Naval Ordinance Stations, retiring 1955, married Ethel B. Faulkner and became a full time farmer. Deacon Janifer served Mt. Hope Baptist Church, Ironsides, capacity of Deacon, treasurer and Sunday School superintendent, 41 years. He was chief of Gettsername Lodge for 18 years, treasurer Potomac River Baptist Assoc. 30 years and a member of American Lagion Post 170. He is survived by his wife, Ethel B. Janifer; one sister, Janie Dent; 16 children, those residing in Charles County are Geraldine Days.
