West Virginia: Today - Increasing cloudiness and mid with a chance of showers in the west, high in the 60s, lows from the upper 30s to the low 40s. Tuesday - Partial clearing and cooler, high in the 30s.

Extended Area Forecast for Wednesday through Friday - Fair through the period. Temperatures will be seasonable with highs ranging from the mid 50s to the 60s, with lows in the 30s and 40s. Normal Washington temperatures are a high of 60 and a low of 41.

Lower Potomac and Chesapeake Bay - Early morning fog followed by partly cloudy skies. Visibility will be 5 miles or more except less than 3 miles in 9. Winds will become southwesterly at near 10 knots. Waves will average 1 foot or less.

The National Weather Forecast for today - Showers and thundershowers will cover much of the southern Plains, the Ohio Valley, and portions of the lower Great Lakes and northern New England. The remainder of the country will have mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will be mild from the lower Mississippi Valley, the Ohio Valley and the lower Great lakes to the East Coast. Cool temperatures will prevail elsewhere.

The Council of Governments Air Quality Index for yesterday showed the high reading in the Washington area during the 9 a.m. period was 27 for the pollutant, photochemical oxidants, Index values between 25 and 45 indicate fair air quality. When the index exceeds 100 the air is considered very unhealthy and individuals with lung, heart and eye ailments are urged to restrict their activity. The forecast for today indicates that the air quality will remain about the same.

The National Weather Service forecasts the Potomac River stage at Little Falls should remain near 2.9 feet today.
