The fifth annual Food for Christmas Drive to benefit the D.C. Emergency Family Shelter will be held Monday through Friday.

The D.C. Youth Chorale will kick off the five-day drive with a sing-a-long at the Rosslyn Metro station at noon Monday. All Metro passengers will be asked to continue singing as they take the Metro from Rosslyn to the Farragut North station. At 1 p.m., the Chorale will perform at the Mayflower Hotel. The public is invited to participate in the performance.

The drive, founded by Temporaries Inc., a Washington-based nation temporary help service, raised eight tons of food for the service, raised eight tons of food for the shelter last year. The shelter relies solely on this annual drive to provide food to families displaced from their homes because of fire or personal disaster.

The main collection point for food will be at Connecticut Avenue and L Street NW, outside the Farragut North Metro station with another collection point in the front lobby of the Mayflower Hotel. For information on cash donations, call 293-7770.

In Virginia, collection points will be at the McLean Shopping Center and the Rosslyn Metro station. In Maryland, collection will be made at Leohmann's Plaza in Rockville.
