Friday Elizabeth Haney, 17, a senior student at Notre Dame Academy in Middleburg, Va., died Dec. 8 at Fairfax Hospital of a head injury suffered when she fell from the hood of a parked car.
She was the daughter of retired Air Force Lt. Col. and Mrs. Dan Haney, of Upperville, where the family has lived for the last six years.
Miss Haney, who was born in Hammond, La., was an honor student at Notre Dame. She was a member of the varsity hockey team and drama club and captain of the Blue Spirit Team, which competes in various school activities.
She had participated in volunteer service projects for senior citizens and for the children at the Northern Virginia Training Center in Middleburg. She belonged to the Middleburg-Orange County Pony Club.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Daniel Lloyd, of the home; her grandparents, Elizabeth Parish and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Stovall, of Hommond, and John D. Haney Sr., of Malaga, Spain, and her great-grandmother, Maybelle H. Edwins, of Hommond.
The family suggests that expression of sympathy may be in the form of contributions to the Friday Haney Scholarship Fund at Notre Dame Academy.
