West Virginia: Today-Increasing cloudiness with a slight chance of showers, highs from the high 40s to the mid 50s, lows from the mid 20s to around 30. Sunday-Fair and Coller, high in the 40s.

The Nation Yesterday: Late fall sunshine raised temperatures to near freezing in the snowstruck northern third of the nation. Snow was confined to scattered flurries over the lower Great Lakes and portions of New England. High winds continued in parts of Wyoming and Montana. The southern half of the nation enjoyed a pleasant day with the execution of the Texas and Louisiana coasts which had rain. Temperatures were in the 70s in Florida and in the 60s throughout the remainder of the South. A cold front spread rain over the Pacific Northwest, with snow in higher elevations.

Highs ranged from 79 degrees in Key West, Fla., to 8 degrees in Alamosa, Colo.

The National Weather Forecast for today: Most of the nation will have sunshine.

Light rain is predicted to spread across the Pacific Northwest, turning to snow in higher elevations.

Freezing air is forecast to cover the northern Rockies and the northern Plains. The remainder of the nation is expected to have a cool day, with the exception of Florida and the Gulf Coast, where temperatures in the 60s and 70s are predicted.

When the index exceeds 100 the air is considered very unhealthy and individuals with lung, heart and eye ailments are urged to restrict their activity. The forecast for today indicates that the air quality will continue to be good.
