Theodore J. (Ted) Noffsinger Sr., 74, retired district manager of the Peoples Life Insurance Co. in Frederick, Md., died Feb. 8 in Bradenton, Fla., after a heart attack.
A resident of Gaithersburg, he was stricken while on a Caribbean cruise.
Mr. Noffsinger was born in Eagle Rock, Va., and graduated from the University of Richmond. Before Joining the home office of Peoples Life in Washington in 1944, he had served as an agent for the company in Staunton, Va., and in management positions in Fairmont and Clarksburg, W. Va.
At the home office, he was director of training, manager of the ordinary department, assistant superintendent of agents and agency secretary. He also was founding editor of the Plico Paper, the company's field newspaper.
Mr. Noffsin ger become manager of the Frederick districk office in 1954 and retired in 1969.
He had been a member of the Frederick Kiwanis Club and Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Life Underwriters, the Life Insurance Marketing Research Association and the Darnestown (Md.) Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder, deacon, trustee and Sunday school superintendent.
He is survived by his wife, Ouida, of the home; four sons, Martin W., of Newport News, Va., Timothy G. and Thomas W., both of Frederck, and Dr. Theodore J. Jr., of Gaithersburg; a daughter, Kay Ann Owen, of Jarratt, Va., and 16 grandchildren.
