Clara Bell Murray, 80, who formerly had worked in real estate in Washington, died Thursday at a nursing home on Saint Simons Island, Ga. She had suffered several strokes.
Her husband, retired Navy Lt. Cmdr. Chauncey R. Murray, died here in 1964.
Mrs. Murray was born in Walter boro, S.C. Before her marriage, she worked in Charleston, S.C. She and her husband came ot Washington in 1938, and she became manager of Belmont Gardens, a residence for single persons. Later she managed Francise, a woman's specialty clothes shop here.
She and her husband left Washington in the late 1940s and returned here in 1952, when she became associated with Sandoz Inc. real estate.
A year later, when The Westchester Apartments here were converted to cooperative ownership, Mrs. Murray joined Randall H. Hagner and Co., which handled the transaction. She maintained a sales office for the company at The Westchester until retiring in 1965.
She is survived by two sons, William R. of Reston, and Richard S., of Washington: a daughter, Mrs. James Gourd, of Noblesville, Ind.; two sisters, Mary Julia McDaniel and Dorothy Fitts, and a brother, Raymond Hill, all of Walterboro, and three grandchildren.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy may be in the form of contributions to the Reboboth Art League in Henlopen Acres. Del.
