All federal, state and local government offices in Virginia and the District of Columbia-except for those that provide emergency service-will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day.

In Maryland, county offices in Prince George's and Montgomery will be closed Monday. State offices will be open. Maryland state offices will be closed Wednesday in observance of the holiday.

Schools in D.C., Alexandria and Montgomery County will be closed Monday. Schools in Prince George's and Fairfax counties will be open to make up a snow day. Fairfax schools will close two hours early.

In Arlington, intermediate and high schools will be closed, but elementary schools will be open to make up a snow day.

Trash collections in the District of Columbia usually made on Monday are scheduled for Tuesday and the Tuesday collections will be made on Wednesday. There will be not trash pickups in Montgomery county on Monday. Trash collections in Virginia and Prince George's County will be made as usual.

Metrobuses will operate on a Sunday schedule on Monday, but there will be no Metrorail subway service. Weekday traffic regulations will not be in effect.

Banks in Virginia and Washington will be closed Monday, while Maryland banks will observe the holiday on Wednesday.

Liquor stores in Montgomery County and in Virginia will be closed Monday, while those in D.C. and Prince George's County will be open.

The postal service will observe the holiday on Monday, and there will be no mail delivery, except for special delivery. Normal delivery will resume on Tuesday.
