A fiery, two-car collision in the 6900 block of Allentown Road in Temple Hills early yesterday claimed the life of an 18-year-old Camp Springs man and seriously injured three others, Prince George's County police said.
Kenneth Arthur McNey of the 5100 block of Clacton Avenue suffered internal injuries and was pronounced dead at Southern Maryland Hospital, a police spokesman said.
McNey ahd been a passenger in the late-model sports car driven by Michael Anthony Vigorito, 17, of the 7100 block of Karen Anne Drive in Camp Springs.
"Vigorito was driving his car southbound on Allentown Road when he apparently lost control of his car," the spokesman said. "His car skidded sideways into the oncoming lane where it struck another sports car."
A U.S. Park police helicopter flew Vigorito to the Washington Hospital Center shortly after the collision. He remained in serious condition with internal injuries yesterday.
Roy. E. Hawkins Jr., 24, the driver of the second vehicle, received minor injuries in the crash and was treated and released from Southern Maryland Hospital. Hawkins' wife, Renee, 24, was admitted to the hospital in serious condition, the police spokesman said.
A third passenger in Hawkins' car was identified as Regina C. Blunk, 29, of the 6300 block of Arthur Road in Camp Springs. She was listed in good condition in the hospital.
