Registration is in progress for the D.C. Department of Recreation summer day camp program.
Youths from 7 to 14 may register to attend a single two-week session. Camp sessions will be held June 25 through July 6, July 9 through July 20, July 23 through Aug. 3 and Aug. 6 through Aug. 17.
Camp programs will include nature study, music, arts and crafts, drama, games, hiking and cookouts. Some Camps will also offer swimming.
The following is a list of day camp locations:
Beech Knoll, Glover Road, south of Military Road NW; Emery Heights, Georgia Avenue and Madison Street NW; Fort Chaplin, Texas Avenue and B Street SE; Fort Dupont, Alabama Avenue and Beck Street SE; Fort Greble, Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and Elmira Street SW; Fort Stanton, 17th and Erie streets SE; Garfield Park, Third Street, between Virginia Avenue and G street SE; Langdon, 20th and Franklin streets NE; Oxon Run, Mississippi Avenue and Stanton Road NE; Rock Creek Park, Tilden Street and Beach Drive, south of picnic area No. 1, and Whitehaven, 39th and W streets NW.
For applications, mail a self-addressed stamped envelope to the Day Camp Program, D.C. Department of Recreation, 1230 Taylor St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20011. Proof of brithdate must accompany the completed registration form for 7-year-old applicants. A registration fee of $5 per child must accompany the application. For more information, call 576-7278.
