Dr. Albert A. Pearre Sr., 80, a retired Frederic internist and cardiologist who had been active in professional organizations, died Saturday in his Frederick home after a heart attack.
Dr. Pearre helped organize the Frederic Heart Association in 1953 and served as its president in 1963. He had been a vice president of the Maryland State Heart Association and received that organization's Silver Service Recognition Medallion in 1965.
He had been a member of the Maryland State Board of Health from 1953 to 1961 and the Maryland Blue Cross Board from 1948 to 1952.
He was chief of staff at the Federick Memorial Hospital during the 1950s and had lectured at Hood college in Frederick for more than 40 years.
Dr. Pearre was a native of Frederick and had earned bachelor's and medical degrees at the University of Virginia. He had interned at the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins hospitals in Baltimore.
he was a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Survivors include his wife, the former Eleanor Gould, of the home; a son, Dr. A. Austin Pearre Jr. of Frederick; two daughters, Eleanor Abbot, of Charlottesville, and Nancy Lesure, of McLean, and eight grandchildren.
