Man in the Green Hat, 301 Massachusetts Ave. NE,. 546-5900. This Capitol Hill restaurant features salads, sandwiches and chili ranging from $2.95 to $4.95, and entrees, which include two side dishes, from $5.95 to $9.95. Open from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 5:30 to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and until midnight Friday; from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5:50 p.m. to midnight Saturday; Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed for dinner. Reservations accepted for dinner and for lunch until noon.
The Bali, 1426 21st St. NW, 293-1776. Indonesian cuisine. Most dishes range from $4.75 to $5.95 with some fancier offerings, and a hamburger with fries, at $2.45, for the timid. Open for lunch from noon to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday; dinner, from 5 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 5 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Reservations not necessary.
Pancho Villa, 5530 Norbeck Rd., Rockville, 871-8554. Mexican dishes ranging from tacos for $1.50 to carne de res de Mazatlan (steak in a savory sauce), at $8.95; most entrees in the $4 to $6 range. Open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. A strolling guitarist plays every day. Reservations advisable on Friday and Saturday evenings.
La Fourchette, 2429 18th St. NW, 332-3077. An enriching experience in French cooking in Adams Morgan. Offerings from quiche lorraine at $3 to entrees including pork, beef and chicken, served with fine sauces, from about $5.75 to $8.75. Open noon to 2:30 p.m. and 6 to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; 6 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Closed Sunday. Reservations not needed.
Casa Baez, 6551 Riggs Road, Hyattsville, at the corner of East-West Highway, 422-7766. Good, unfancy but well-prepared Cuban country food. Most main dishes around $3. Open from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, from noon to 8:45 p.m. Friday, and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. Carry-out service. Credit cards and checks not accepted. No reservations.
The Warehouse, 214 King St., Alexandria, 683-4112. A family restaurant where children are welcomed. Hamburger platters start at $2.75 and complete dinners range from $3.95 to $10 for a filet mignon, with staples such as pizza, fish and fried chicken in between. Open 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday; 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Sunday. Sunday brunch, with offerings from $2.50 to $4.25 fro steak and eggs, served from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Reservations not accepted.
Chez Juliette, 107 W. Broad St., Falls Church, 532-9290. A neighborly Vietnamese place. Vietnamese dishes average $5; a few French dishes are served with the most expensive being steak in mushroom and pepper sauce at $7. Open from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Credit cards not accepted but personal checks are taken; reservations not needed.
