Gordon Leigh Williams 61, a retired official of the General Services Administration who was active in church and veterans organizations, died Friday in a Supply, N.C., hospital following a heart attack.
Mr. Williams, a Falls Church resident who was vacationing at the time, had been stricken in an Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., restaurant.
He joined the Selective Service Administration in 1945 following World War II duty with the Navy. In 1948 he became an archivist with the General Services Administration and worked there until retiring in 1969. He was chief of the Federal Records Center at Suitland during his last five years with GSA.
Mr. Williams was a member of St. Anthony's Church in Falls Church and Knights of Columbus Fairfax Council No. 4522. He was a past commander of St. Anthony's Catholic War Veterans Post No. 1791.
He was a native of Washington and a graduate of Roosevelt High School.
Survivors include his wife, Doris, of the home; a son, Geoffrey T., of Hamilton, Va.; two daughters, Constance M. Rogers of Columbia, Md., and Margaret J. Richards of Oakton, Va.; a brother, Robert K. Jr., of Rockville, and four grandchildren.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Heart Fund.
