Lorraine G. Howley, 47, who was active in school, church and youth activities in Montgomery County, died of a brain tumor Friday at Sibley Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Howley was born in Boston, and graduated form Emmanuel College there. She moved to Washington in 1953 and went to work for the Central Intelligence Agency. In 1956, she married James. M. Howley and resigned her job.
In recent years, Mrs. Howley had taught religion at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rockville. She also had been a coach for the track team in the Rockville City League and had worked as a reading teacher's aide in the Montgomery County public system.
In 1977 and 1978, she was president of the Washington area chapter of the Emmanuel College Alumnae Association.
In addition to her husband, of the home in Rockville, survivors include four sons, Michael P., David F., Thomas M. and John ., and three daughters, Mary E., Julianne and Angela C., all of the home; her mother, Anne Culhane, of Cambridge, Mass.; a brother, David D. Culhane, also of Cambridge, and a sister, Margaret C. Mueller, of Rockville.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
