Mr. Miller joined Freuehauf's sales division, the Fruehauf Trailer Company, following the war and served as branch manager in Greensboro, N.C., Norfolk, and Roanoke.
He transferred to the company's distribution division in Baltimore in 1956, and rose to the post of regional manager four years later.
Mr. Miller and his family had made their home in Arlington since 1956. He had coached Little League football teams. A fan of the Washington Redskins, he received a phone call shortly before his death from Redskins Head Coach Jack Pardee.
Pardee had overcome a form of cancer during his playing days which was similar to Mr. Miller's.

His professional memberships included the D.C. Truckers Association and the Maryland Motor Truck Association.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Smithdeal Miller, of Arlington; two sons, Michael R., of Alexandria, and John M., of Fredericksburg; a daughter, Carol Jane Miller of Ohio; his mother, Myrtle Virginia Miller of Fairfax, and two brothers, Ronald G., of Charlotte, N.C., and William V., of Orlando, Fla.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the C. Roby Miller Memorial Fund at the Hospice of Northern Virginia, P.O. Box 1590, Arlington, Va. 22210.
