Dr. Howard C. Davis has been elected chairperson of the Washington Urban League Board of Directors, replacing William W. Barr, whose term expired in the fall of 1979.

Davis has been a member of the Board of Directors since 1977. He has been a practicing dentist in the District since 1965, and prior to that was an instructor in the Department of Oral Surgery at Howard University. He is also vice president of Independence Federal Savings and Loan Association and a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Urban League.

Other newly elected board officers are:

Flaxie Pinkett, president and chairperson of the board of John R. Pinkett, Inc., first vice chairperson.

Arts consultant Aldus Chapin; president of the Washington Ballet Board, a member of the National Theatre Board, former head of the Corcoran Gallery of Art and past president of the Washington Preforming Arts Society, second vice chairperson.

Attorney John A. Turner Jr., secretary.

Jerry A. Moore III, an attorney with the D.C. Board of Trade, assistant secretary.

Janice A. Booker, director of urban development at the American Bankers Association, treasurer.

And William C. Syphas, a retired executive with the D.C. Manpower Administration and the U.S. Department of Labor, assistant treasurer.
