A D.C. Superior Court grand jury yesterday indicted a 25-year-old Washington man on rape and murder charges in the February slaying of a woman in a wooded area near her home in Fairfax Village.

Willie Lee Minick, of 3939 R St. SE, was arrested Feb. 27 and charged with the strangulation slaying of Suella King, 32, whose body was found behind a row of apartments in the 2100 block of Suitland Terrace SE. f

In addition to the indictment of Minick on the rape and murder charges, the grand jury also indicted him on two other counts of robbery of women in the same neighborhood in November.

King, an assistant manager of the Greyhound bus terminal, lived at 2030 Fort Davis Dr. SE. Police responded to Fairfax Village on the night of Feb. 27 after a security guard at the complex reported seeing a man dragging a woman behind an apartment building.

A man was chased from the scene by two police officers who later found King's partly nude body in a patch of grass, according to court papers. Near King's body, police found a wallet that contained Minick's identification and his home address.

At the time he was arrested, Minick, a carpenter, had been on parole for six months after serving six years of a 35-year sentence for a 1962 rape that also occurred in the Fairfax Village area.
