Age 62. On Tuesday, May 13, 1980, of 2327 Palm rd., W. Palm Beach, Fla., husband of the late Elizabeth K. Hickey (1978); father of Philip F., W. Palm Beach; William H., III, Wheaton, Md., and Edward A. Hickey, Las Vegas, Nev.; brother of Howard Hickey of Lanham, Md., and Ruth Chandler, Popes Creek, Md. There are also two grandchildren. Mr. Hickey was a retired U.S. Deputy Marshall. He began his law career as a deputy sheriff in Charles County, Md., in the late 1930's.He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a gunner-radio operator with the 11th Air Force in the Aleutian Islands. He flew 87 combat missions and was awarded the Air Medal three times. After serving two years in the Fire Department in Washington, D.C., he joined the Marshall Service. One of his many assignments was escorting witnesses to the Army-McCarthy Hearings in the early 50's and later he guarded Costa Nosra informant, Joseph Valachi, during his testimony before the U.S. Senate. Immediately after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, he was detailed to 24 hour guard of then U.S. Attorney General, Robert Kennedy. In 1969 he was transferred to the Miami office, where he worked until his retirement in 1975. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 15, at the Palm Springs Baptist Church, Palm Springs, Fla., with Rev. Alfred T. Royer officiating. Arrangements by E.
