The following colleges and universities will hold commencement exercises this week:
GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY, 37th and O streets NW.
Medical School commencement for 211 graduates will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. A baccalaureate mass will be at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 36th and O streets NW. The commencement speaker is Dr. Philip Anthony Tumult, the professor emeritus of medicine at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. Tumulty and four others will receive honorary doctor of science degrees. They are Dr. Carlton Peter Alexis, vice president for the Center for Health Administration Studies at the University of Chicago Graduate School; Dr. Raymond Thomas Holden, a 1928 Georgetown graduate and professor at Georgetown since 1933, and Dr. Julius B. Richmond, surgeon general of the United States.
MOUNT VERNON, 2100 Foxhall Rd. NW.
Commencement exercises for 124 graduates will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the college quadrangle, 2100 Foxhall Rd. NW. The speaker is Patricia Wals, judge on the U.S. District Court of Appeals. Wald will receive the honorary degree of doctor of humane letters. Doctor of humane letters degrees will also be conferred upon Alice Sheets Marriott, a Marriott Corp. executive, and Victoria Schuck, out-going president of Mount Vernon College.
