The Rev. Lloyd N. Young, 84, who was pastor of the Greater Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Washington for 27 years before he retired in 1957, died of pneumonia Thursday at the Capitol Hill Hospital. He lived in Washington.

Mr. Young was born in Washington. He graduated from the Howard University School of Religion and the Washington Baptist Seminary.He was licensed as a minister in 1923 and ordained in 1928.

He served for two years as pastor of the Central Baptist Church in Washington and then became pastor of the Greater Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. Since then, he had been a guest pastor at a number of churches here. c

Mr. Young was a member of the Baptist Ministers Conference of Washington, D.C. and Vicinity, the Baptist Convention of Washington, D.C. and Vicinity, the Mount Bethel Baptist Association and the Potomac River Baptist Association. He belonged to the Masons, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He had served in the U.S. Army in France in World War I.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine, of Washington; a stepdaughter, Annie Perry, of Washington; a sister, Bertha Summers, of Washington, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
