Peter A. Giordano, 49, an official of the Academy Insurance Group and of its holding company, Ammest Services Inc., died Wednesday in Bethlehem, Pa., after a heart attack.
A resident of Arlington, he had been attending a meeting of the board of directors of the insurance firm in Valley Forge, Pa.
Mr. Giordano represented the insurance company in the Northeast and Midwest with offices in Alexandria. He had been with the company for 14 years. He also was regional vice president for sales of Ammest Services.
He was born in New Castle, Pa. After serving with the Army during the Korean conflict, he became sales manager here for the Dodger Radio Network of Brooklyn, N.Y.
In the late 1950s, Mr. Giordano was a sales manager and general manager with radio station WEAM here. He then was sales manager here for the Florida Citrus Commission before joining the Academy Insurance Group.
He had been active in the Non-Commissioned Officers Association and belonged to the Army Navy Country Club and the Washington Country Club.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Giordano of Walnut, Calif.; four brothers, Sam, of Vienna, Va., Joe, of El Monte, Calif., Tony, of New Castle, and Mickey Tibbs of St. Albans, W. Va. and two sisters, Corrina Giordano and Rose Greig, of Walnut.
