Northern Virginians who cannot be present to vote in the general election Nov. 4 have until Nov. 1 to cast an absentee ballot in person.

To cast an in-person absentee ballot, you must be a registered voter and must state why you cannot appear at the polls Nov. 4.

If you are unable to cast an absentee ballot in person, you may receive an absentee ballot by mail by contacting your local election office by Oct. 30. For your mail-in vote to be counted, it must be received by the time polls close at 7 p.m. Nov. 4.

The following is a list of locations at which you may cast an absentee ballot in person. All persons must cast their absentee ballot in their own jurisdiction.

Alexandria: Room 101, City Hall, Washington Street. Open Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Arlington: Room 130, County Courthouse, Courthouse Road. Open Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Fairfax City: Room 201, City Hall, Armstrong Street. Open Mondays through Fridays and Saturday, Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Fairfax County: Office of Registrar, 4031 University Dr., Fairfax, and at four satellite locations:

Franconia Governmental Center, 6121 Franconia Rd., Alexandria.

West Springfield Governmental Center, 6140 Rolling Rd., Springfield.

Mason Governmental Center, 6507 Columbia Pike, Annandale.

McLean Governmental Center, 1437 Balls Hill Rd., McLean.

All centers will be open Mondays through Thursdays, 1 to 8 p.m., Fridays from 1 to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Falls Church: City Hall, 300 Park Ave. Open Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Loudoun County: 21 E. Cornwall St., Leesburg. Open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Manassas: General Registrar's office, 9027 Centre St., City Hall Annex. Open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Manassas Park: City Hall, 101 Manassas Dr. Open Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to noon, Thursdays from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
