The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors is seeking nine citizens to serve on the newly created Community Action Board, established to advise the supervisors on county anti-poverty programs and give residents a direct voice in funding and planning to solve a number of human services problems.
Citizen members of the board will be elected Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at locations in three target areas of the county. Those voting in the elections must meet federal poverty guidelines which range from maximum income of $3,790 annually for a single person to maximum income of $7,450 for a family of four and $9,890 for a family of six.
Voting privileges are extented only to the economically disadvantaged, but any individual, regardless of income, may be nominated and elected to the board.

The election locations and target areas are: Groveton High School, 6500 Quander Rd., Groveton, for south target area (south of Braddock Road to Union Mill Road on the west); Reston Community Center, 2310 Colts Neck Rd., Reston, for north target area (north-west of Chain Bridge Rd., bordering on the south target area), and James Lee Community Center, 2855-A Annandale Rd., Falls Church, for central target area (southeast of Chain Bridge Road and north of Braddock Road).
