Marshall Andrew Geier, 21, a 1977 graduate of Charles W. Woodward High School in Rockville and a junior at Sarah Lawrence College in New York, was fatally injured Sunday in a car accident in Cranford, N.J.
Cranford police said Mr. Geier, who was returning to Sarah Lawrence after the Thanksgiving holiday, was a passenger in a car driven by Lucinda D. Palmer, also 21, of Elizabeth, N.J. Police said the car hit a utility pole at a high rate of speed. Mr. Geier was pronounced dead at the scene by a MEDIC physician and Miss Palmer died after being taken to a Union, N.J., hospital.
Born in Lancaster, Pa., Mr. Geier moved to Rockville with his family as an infant. He played guitar in the Woodward High band, was selected to play in the All-State Jazz Band, and was a former president of the student government association.
He planned to be a writer and contributed to the Sarah Lawrence College literary magazine. He attended Dickinson College in Pennsylvania for two years before transferring to Sarah Lawrence.
Survivors include his parents, Paul H. Geier, of Islamorada, Fla., and Dori G. Bock of Rockville; three sisters, Julie, of Leesburg, Va., Gail Sonnenburg of Austin, Tex., and Paula Klima of Manassas, Va., two brothers, Paul, of Rockville and William, of White Stone, Va., and two grandparents, Dr. Stephen D. and Anna Lockey of Lancaster.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to Children's Hospital National Medical Center.
