Educated at St. Brendens Elementary School and Public High School, Plattsburg, Mo. Graduated St. Joseph's School of Nursing, Kansas City, Mo. Entered U.S. Navy Nursing Corps in 1935, serving successively in the Navy Hospitals: Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Harris Island and Guantamo Bay, Cuba.At the latter she was Assistant Chief Nurse, World War Ii.She later served at Camp Lejune. After World War Ii she returned to the Naval Hospital, in Philadelphia, and in 1950, was assigned to the USS Consolation as Chief Nurse. She was stationed in Korea during the Korean War. Her next tour of duty was Post Graduate work in nursing education at the University of Pennsylvania. In 1954 she was assigned as Chief Nurse U.S. Naval Station, Long Beach, Calif. She retired in 1955 holding numerous campaign medals. She is survived by her husband, Phillip, Laguna Hills; two brothers, Arthur Mallen of Maryland, and Rev. James Mallen, Missouri; four sisters, Margaret Mallen, Laguna Hills; Cecilia Foster Dallas; Anne Wade, Missouri; Agnes Clifton, Kansas.
