Washington's birthday will be observed Monday, and the following schedules will apply.
Government -- All federal and most area state, county and city offices will be closed.
Schools -- All public schools in the District, Northern Virginia and Maryland will be closed.
Banks -- All banks in the Washington metropolitan area will be closed.
Mail -- There will be no regular postal service. Special delivery and express mail will be delivered, however.
Liquor -- In Virginia, ABC liquor stores will be closed. In Montgomery County, liquor dispensaries will be closed. In the District and Prince George's County, liquor stores are not required to close.
Shops -- Most retail stores in the area will be open.
Transportation -- A modified Saturday schedule will be followed by Metrorail on the holiday. Fares will be 60 cents and trains will operate from 6:30 a.m. till midnight. Metrobuses will be operated on a Saturday schedule.
Parking and Rush Hour -- The District will observe Saturday parking and traffic regulations.
Courts -- All federal, state and local courts will be closed in observance of the holiday.
Libraries -- All libraries in the District, Northern Virginia and Maryland will be closed.
Trash -- Trash collections scheduled for Monday in the District will be made Tuesday and Tuesday pickups will be made on Wednesday. District supercan collections will be made on regular schedules.Prince George's and Montgomery counties will make trash collection as usual. Northern Virginia jurisdictions, with the exception of Falls Church, will make collections as usual.In Falls Church, all collections scheduled for Monday will be made Tuesday and Tuesday's pickups will be collected Wednesday.
