Free workshops on basic sewing and on nutrition and fitness begin next week in Wards 1 and 2.
The 10-week basic sewing workshops will be held Mondays at Bruce Monroe Community School, 3012 Georgia Ave. NW, 2 to 4 p.m., and in the basement of Martin Luther King Jr. Towers, 1220 12th St. NW, 7 to 9 p.m.; Tuesdays at the Barney Neighborhood House, 3118 16th St. NW, 10 a.m. to noon, and Sacred Heart Academy, 1621 Park Rd. NW, 7 to 9:30 p.m., and Wednesdays, Sacred Heart Academy, 1621 Park Rd. NW, 9:30 a.m. to noon, and the Parent-Child Center, 2124 14th St. NW, 2 to 4 p.m.
The nine-week exercise and nutrition program will be held Mondays at the Parent-Child Center, 2123 14th St. NW, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the Martin Luther King Jr. Library, 901 G St. NW, Room 443, noon to 1 p.m., and the basement of Woodridge Library, Rhode Island Avenue and 18th Street NE, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.; Tuesdays at Randall Senior High, Delaware Avenue and Eye Street SW, 6 to 7 p.m., and Arthur Capper Multipurpose Room, 1000 5th St. SE, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., and Wednesdays at the Department of Human Services, 801 M St. SW, noon to 1 p.m., St. Augustine Episcopal Church basement, 600 M St. SW, 6 to 7 p.m., and the Martin Luther King Jr. Library, 901 G St. NW, Room 443, noon to 1 p.m.
