Carolyn Sarah Booth, 70, a resident of Fairhaven, Md., for 35 years and for many years a member of St. James Episcopal Parish in Lothian, Md., died of cardiac arrest Wednesday at the Malcolm Grow Medical Center at Andrews Air Force Base.
She was the wife of Army Col. Merritt Brandon Booth Sr.They moved to Fairhaven after his retirement at the end of World War II.
Mrs. Booth was born in Pittsford, N.Y., the daughter of an Army officer. She grew up at various military posts in this country. After her marriage, she accompanied her husband on two assignments in Japan and Panama. m
She was a member of the vestry at St. James and was the first woman to be appointed a senior warden there. She was a member of the Daughters of the U.S. Army and the D.C. Chapter of PEO, a philanthropic organization.
Beside her husband, survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Booth Smith of Ossining, N.Y., and Susan Emily Wood of Los Angeles; a son, William S., of San Ramon, Calif.; a brother, Thomas G. Tousey Jr. of Carmel, Calif., and 11 grandchildren.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Library Fund of St. James Episcopal Parish.
