Two men have been arrested in Southeast Washington and charged in the fatal shooting last week of a landscaping contractor who was killed while chasing two robbers who had held up an auto parts shop in Bladensburg.
Police said Nicholas Soussanin, 50, was in the Martin and Otterback parts shop last Friday when two men, at least one of them armed, entered and demanded money. After taking an undisclosed sum, the fled. Soussanin, a District Heights resident who was not robbed, pursued them from the store and was shot.
After a preliminary investigation, Prince George's County and 6th district police staked out a parked car near Benning Road and H Street SE Wednesday. They said one of the two men arrested was in another car that they stopped in that neighborhood during the stakeout. He was identified as Louis M. Medley, 19, of 827 51st St. SE.
The other man was arrested about three hours later in an apartment at 4675 H St. SE. He was identified as Elroy Barnes, 27, of the H Street address. Authorities also gave a Riverdale address for him.
County police said they have obtained warrants charging both suspects with murder in the shooting of Soussanin.
