A new, three-bedroom house at 9644 Cold Star Ct. in Columbia is to be raffled off by the Columbia Citizens in Action/Columbia Jaycees.

Tickets for the raffle are selling for $100 each. Proceeds are to be used to fund community service projects and as donations to a number of nonprofit organizations in Howard County, including Grassroots, Womanscope, the Rape Crisis Center, Citizens Against Spousal Assault and the Council of Volunteers in Corrections.

Valued at approximately $125,000, the contemporary house with red cedar siding and a two-car garage is located on a wooded lot. It has three bedrooms, two baths, an eat-in kitchen and an open fireplace between the living room and library.

The house will be open for inspection and ticket sales from noon to 5 p.m. on the following Sundays: Sept. 13, 20 and 27, Oct. 4, 11, 18 and 25, and Nov. 1.

A drawing is scheduled to take place Nov. 22 at the house, which was purchased from a local builder for $124,500. According to the sponsors, if a minimum of 1,450 tickets are not sold by Oct. 15, the raffle will be cancelled and all money will be returned to ticket purchasers.
