All U.S., state and county government offices in Maryland will be closed Wednesday in observance of Veterans Day. In Northern Virginia, government offices will be closed in Arlington but will be open in all other jurisdictions.
Schools: Schools will be closed Wednesday in Alexandria, Arlington and the District of Columbia. They will be open elsewhere in the metropolitan area.
Liquor: In Virginia and Montgomery County, liquor stores will be closed. In the District of Columbia and Prince George's County, liquor stores are not required to close.
Mail: All post offices in the area will be closed Wednesday. There will be no regular mail delivery. Special delivery and express mail service will be operated.
Libraries: Libraries will be closed Wednesday in Maryland, the District of Columbia, Alexandria and Arlington. Facilities in other jurisdictions will be open.
Refuse: Trash collections throughout the area will be made on regular schedules.
Banks: All banks in the area will be closed Wednesday.
Courts: All courts will be closed.
Transportation: Metrobus and Metrorail will operate on a Saturday schedule, but Metrorail will begin operations at 6:30 a.m. Off-peak fares will be in effect. The Silver Spring and Gaithersburg Ride-On service will operate on a Saturday schedule.
Parking: Enforcement of traffic and parking rgulations will vary among the various jurisdictions in the area.
