The new Metro minibus service operated by the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority and financed by the D.C. government will expand Monday to include service to communities in Southwest, Southeast and Northeast.

Metro minibus service between Georgetown and the Kennedy Center via New Hampshire Avenue, 24th Street, K Street, Wisconsin Avenue, 35th Street and Whitehaven Parkway NW began Dec. 13.

Fares are 50 cents a trip. Valid Metrobus or Metrorail transfers, flash passes or school tokens are accepted for the full fare. Transfers to Metrobus service will be issued after payment of the full fare (60 cents during non-rush hours and 65 cents during rush hours). The new routes are:

Southwest Shuttle (Route M14)--Will operate between Half and O streets SW and L'Enfant Plaza via P Street, Fourth Street, M Street, Half Street, I Street, Sixth Street, Water Street, Ninth Street, Maine Avenue, Seventh Street and D Street SW. It will run every 15 minutes between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.

Mayfair-River Terrace (Route M16)--Will operate as a loop between Mayfair-Parkside and River Terrace via Minnesota Avenue Metro station, Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, Minnesota Avenue, Benning Road, 34th Street, Anacostia Drive, Clay Street, 34th Street, Benning Road and Minnesota Avenue NE. Service will be every 15 minutes between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays.

Garfield (Route M18)--Will operate between Alabama Avenue and Good Hope Road and 12th Street and Robinson Place SE via 30th Street, Alabama Avenue, Stanton Terrace, Stanton Road, Jasper Place, Bruce Place, 12th Place, Jasper Road and Robinson Place SE. There will be trips every 15 minutes between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays.
