Advisory Neighborhood Commission 1B has gone on record opposing a zoning application that would permit the owner of a three-unit apartment house at 2719 13th St. NW to convert it to a six-unit building. The ANC also has opposed the application by the owner of an apartment building at 1901 16th St. NW to add another floor. The ANC voted to support the application by Howard University to build a classroom auditorium and office building at 2600 Sixth St. NW. The ANC also voted to support an application for a parking lot at 1902 Vermont St. NW.

D.C. Council member David Clarke (D-Ward 1) has asked the ANC for its views on proposed legislation that would rename Sherman Avenue NW in honor of the late Frank D. Reeves, a civil rights activist who, as an attorney for the NAACP, participated in the landmark Brown vs. Board of Education school desegration case. The ANC will discuss the matter at its next meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the ANC office, 1851 Ninth St. NW. The agenda includes proposed public housing projects in the 1300 block of Euclid Street NW and in the 1300 block of Belmont Street NW. The recent closing of the Anthony Bowen YMCA also will be discussed.

Commissioner James Hill will meet with residents of single-member District 1 at 7 tonight at St. Augustine's Church, 1419 V St. NW.
