W.R. (Frank) Hines, 91, the president of the Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home in Silver Spring, died of pneumonia July 1 at the Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park. He lived in Silver Spring.

Mr. Hines was born in Washington. At the age of 13, he went to work at the S.H. Hines Co., a firm that had been established in Washington by his father, Stephen Henry Hines, in 1873. In 1921, when his father died, Mr. Hines became president of the firm.

For many years, the business was at 2901 14th St. NW. About 1970, it merged with the Rinaldi Funeral Home and became the Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home with offices at 11800 New Hampshire Ave. in Silver Spring. Mr. Hines was president until his death.

Mr. Hines was a Mason and a member of the Almas Temple of the Shrine, the Association of the Oldest Inhabitants of the District of Columbia, the Washington Board of Trade and the Congressional Country Club.

Survivors include his wife, Naomi, of Silver Spring; two daughters, Lucy Jane Conger of Wheaton and Frankie Lou Conner of Silver Spring; a sister, Marion Hines Taylor of Silver Spring; two granddaughters and nine great-grandchildren.
