George S. Ostrowski, 60, president of Management Research Associates in Crystal City since 1973 and a retired Air Force colonel who was a procurement officer at the Pentagon, died July 31 at Washington Hospital Center. He lived in Stafford, Va.

The D.C. Medical Examiner's Office said Col. Ostrowski died of head injuries suffered in a fall earlier that day from the roof of a barn at his home in Stafford.

Col. Ostrowski was a native of Browerville, Minn. He was a graduate of the University of Omaha and earned a master's degree at George Washington University.

He joined the old Army Air Forces during World War II and served in Europe. He was a procurement officer at Air Force posts throughout this country.

Col. Ostrowski moved to Reston in 1968 when he joined the Pentagon staff. He retired from the service in 1972.

He was president of the local chapter of the National Contract Management Association.

Survivors include his wife, Hilda, of Stafford; three daughters, Susan Wiersema of Germany, Patricia Long of San Clemente, Calif., and Maxine Rekos of Piscataway, N.J.; six sisters, Gertrude Pozorski of Plymouth, Ind., Sophie Kubitza of Browerville, Mary Ostrowski of Mishawaka, Ind., Eleanor Beckers of South Saint Paul, Minn., and Pearl Brown and Margaret Petron, both of South Bend, Ind; two brothers, Andrew, of Rice, Minn., and Louis, of Browerville, and eight grandchildren.
