Commuter trains on the Amtrak main line between Baltimore and Washington have begun stopping at Amtrak's Capital Beltway Station.
Adjacent to the Ardmore Industrial Complex, the station is at Capital Beltway Exit 19B. Because the Beltway Station is easily accessible to residents of Landover and Lanham, commuter stops at those two locations have been discontinued.
No changes are planned in the Eastern corridor trains that regularly use the Ardmore-Beltway station.
The Washington-bound commuter trains operated by Conrail and supported by the State Railroad Administration stop at the Beltway Station each weekday at 7:01 and 7:33 a.m. They leave Baltimore at 6:20 and 6:52 a.m. and arrive at Union Station at 7:14 and 7:46 a.m. Northbound Conrail trains leave Washington each weekday at 5:35 and 6:05 p.m.
Amtrak's "Chesapeake" also will stop at the Beltway Station at 9:05 a.m. (southbound) and 5:18 p.m. (northbound).
From the Beltway Station to Washington, the Conrail fare is about $1.30, based on the purchase of a monthly commuter ticket. From Baltimore, the Conrail fare to the Beltway Station is about $2.25, based on a monthly ticket. Amtrak fares are slightly more.
